CG Today - Toy Story"Toy Story 3"  continues to strengthen its case for an Oscar bid as Best Picture.

The American Film Institute on Sunday named the Disney/Pixar 3-D feature as one of its best 10 movies of 2010 -- the sole animation to crack AFI's list.

Last year's "Up" (Disney/Pixar) and 1991's "Beauty and the Beast" (Disney) are the only animated films to receive Academy Award nominations for Best Picture. ("Up" won the Oscar this year for Best Animated Feature.)

"We're going for the Best Picture win," Walt Disney Studios honcho Rich Ross told Deadline Hollywood last month. "We wanted to have the best movie and the reviews have clearly said that and it's the number-one box office hit of the year, so I'm not sure why we would not go for it all."

The studio's recent campaign placed "Toy Story 3" characters in the posters of such previous Best Picture winners as "Shakespeare in Love." Disney is the only major studio never to have won the Best Picture Oscar.
