Animation and gaming production company DQ Entertainment is making some meaningful progress in the development and early production of their latest children's title renovation: Peter Pan. DQE's The New Adventures of Peter Pan has been in the news for a few months now; however, the India-headquartered company's noteworthy presence at this year's MIP jr. / MIPCOM 2010 animation event has again thrust the new CG series into the spotlight. DQ Entertainment has grown in significant proportion to its local animation industry, contributing to the production of numerous titles, including 2D fantasy series Tara Duncan, Nickelodeon's Fanboy & Chum Chum, and MARVEL's Iron Man: the animated series.
The New Adventures of Peter Pan is a good example of DQE's business ambitions regarding the current market: specifically the pursuit of international co-productions of established brands or intellectual properties. Funding the development of original content is risky and less lucrative at the moment, but that doesn't mean DQ Entertainment won't be pressing their efforts into producing quality animation elsewhere. As with their work on Lassie & Friends or Little Nick, DQE's The New Adventures of Peter Pan updates a familiar cast of characters, while hopefully providing audiences with a creative and entertaining narrative context worth tuning in to.
DQE thus embarks on the production of a new CG television series that will find Peter Pan and Tinkerbell up against the typically nefarious Captain Hook. Neverland is as it has always been: magic, memories, and adventure are around every turn. Of course, at the other end of the story, viewers are introduced to "a new generation Wendy" and her two brothers, John and Michael, who all reside in contemporary London. The New Adventures of Peter Pan is scheduled for full delivery spring 2012.
