Reflects the Company's Commitment to Cross-Platform Social Game Development
Casual games developer and publisher eGames, Inc. today announced that its Board of Directors has approved a change in the name of the company to Entertainment Games, Inc., effective immediately. Entertainment Games will continue to trade under under the symbol (Pink Sheets:EGAM).
The new name reflects the company's commitment to developing innovative games for rapidly emerging social game platforms, including Facebook, Google +, tablets, and mobile devices. The name change follows recent announcements of the company's purchase of Heyday Games, a developer of cross-platform social game content, and its recruitment of top engineering, design, animation and music talent to develop new intellectual property. Today's announcement makes Entertainment Games one of the only publicly-traded social game companies in the market.
"The name Entertainment Games aptly reflects our bold commitment to deliver a new form of cross-platform entertainment," said Gene Mauro, President and COO of Entertainment Games. "We plan to take the social game dynamic to the next level by infusing it with familiar forms of nostalgic entertainment," Mauro added. "It's a time of great industry momentum and opportunity, and our new name is indicative of our ambitious new vision and the breadth of this new market opportunity."
The company also has created an exciting new logo that captures the broad vision and unique positioning of Entertainment Games.
The company will continue to use the eGames brand name when marketing and selling its PC game titles to leading retail chains world wide.
