Outbreak Studios develops a game based on unique archaeological finds in Sweden.

Outbreak Studios announces today the upcoming game Fylgja, which is based on archaeological findings from the Tulebo area in Gothenburg, Sweden. Fylgja is planned for release in 2011 on Windows and Mac. It will be available for free. Experts, coordinated by the Museum of Mölndal, are involved in the development and the project runs with support from the Torsten Söderbergs foundation. The game is co-developed by Liminal Studio.

Players solve quests in both the Bronze Age (around 400 B.C.) and the Iron Age (700 A.D.). Buildings, clothing, characters and their environment are all based on correct archaeological data, but carefully transformed to a more mystic and magic tone. The story revolves around the girl Tyra who mysteriously falls asleep and time travels to the Bronze Age. There she meets her ancestors and they rely on her to solve conflicts and other challenges to secure the survival of her blood line. "It is very inspiring to develop a game that has an exciting historical background", said Peter Björklund, CEO and founder of Outbreak Studios. "The experience to work with a museum and well known archeologists and experts really triggers the imagination".

"We wanted Outbreak Studios to be involved from start to finish", said Charlotte Heyman, founder of Liminal Studio. "Their dedication and skills are so valuable for this project".

"I'm impressed how far the project has come in a short time", said Jonna Ulin, President for Mölndals Museum. "It 's thrilling to see the history hidden under our feet brought to life".
