Under the radar LogoLast year 3D moved well beyond its origins in the 1950’s. If anyone is looking for indicators that it’s real and expanding beyond movies and television toward a strong acceptance and use in the future, you can just check with UNDER THE RADAR Productions. They report that private and public companies are considering ways to incorporate 3D as well as holographic animation into their corporate and consumer events. According to Mark Dow, President and CEO, UNDER THE RADAR Productions, “We are seeing an incredible demand by companies to resume corporate and consumer events. And, they are directing us to find ways to make these events more productive, memorable and exclusive with the use of entertainment technology, 3D and hologram animation.

Founded in 1989, UNDER THE RADAR Productions is a Chicago-based producer of corporate and consumer events. Its core competencies include creative development, production execution and project management services.

Just recently, UNDER THE RADAR Productions partnered with DreamWorks Animation SKG to officially and dramatically launch the world’s largest cruise ship, Allure of the Seas in an elaborate live naming ceremony held by Royal Caribbean International at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale. Shrek’s star Princess Fiona was revealed as the surprise godmother of the new cruise liner via 3D and holographic animation technology.

Princess Fiona appeared in 3-D holographic animation in the Amber Theater of the Allure of the Seas and presided over the live naming ceremony festivities. The choice of Princess Fiona as godmother was kept secret until the ceremony took place. This was the first 3D holographic fictional character to be godmother to a cruise ship and guests were required to wear stylish 3D glasses to view the event.

“When creating an experience we try everything, we optimize everything and today 3D technology is making its way into more than Hollywood entertainment. Our clients demand that and we make sure their events entertain, communicate, motivate and exceed their goals,” Dow said. “We anticipate a significant use of 3D animation this year in our work and even more in the years to follow.”

The teams at Under the Radar Productions are unique because they work on projects in both the corporate and consumer arenas. This approach to projects keeps the team sharp and ensures that leading-edge, highly pollinated creative approaches enhance corporate and consumer projects.
