As it expands its talent and capabilities, Digital Domain's hybrid production company Mothership has moved into new headquarters in Marina del Rey, California. The spacious new studio space gives Mothership directors and the company's advertising, videogame and entertainment clientele access to live action and state-of-the-art virtual production capabilities and extended art, conceptual and creative development firepower.
"We launched Mothership at the beginning of last year as a production company built to support a new breed of director who wants to utilize all the tools and technology available throughout their creative process," said Ed Ulbrich, Mothership President and Digital Domain EVP. "Our new space is much larger, more open, more creative and provides everything our directors need for full scale, end-to-end production -- both live action and digital -- to create marketing and advertising content for multiple platforms."
The new studio includes one of the largest virtual production and performance capture stages and facilities in the industry and boasts capabilities for full live-action production, including directing, previsualization, concept, story and asset development, and access to a full-scale design and art department. It is in a bustling creative enclave that includes TBWA\Chiat\Day, Media Arts Lab, Electronic Arts, Deutsch, and Gehry Partners.
Mothership's new home base is linked seamlessly to Digital Domain's growing network of creative locations, enabling clients to conveniently step into Digital Domain/Mothership in Venice, Marina del Rey, San Francisco, Florida or Vancouver to tap into the artistic and technical resources anywhere Digital Domain has a presence.
