VFX sequences add magic to Hrithik's GUZAARISH

Everyone knows that Sanjay Leela Bhansali is apt in dishing out emotional stories and when he does so, he does it by his heart. Recall any of his films and you will find a complete package - good story, good acting, good photography and good music. And GUZAARISH is no exception. Prime Focus that has done two earlier films of Sanjay Leela Bhansali like BLACK and SAWAARIYA has given its best. Reupal Rawal, Sr. VFX Supervisor gives an insight.

And the candle trick sequence?

The candle trick is yet another magic sequence in the film, performed by Hrithik. There are 2 Candle tricks- First, the successful one and the second where Hrithik meets with the accident.

Hrithik is shown doing a magic trick where he blows a candle and the flame detaches from the wick and keep floating up in the air. The flame is created in CG. This follows by Hrithik floating up in the air and joining the flame to the wick, the team did a lot of wire clean-ups to achieve this. We also had to track Hrithik's eye movement to the CG flame. The trick is concluded by Hrithik floating down into a huge water tank holding the burning candle. Since we could never have a real life reference for the same, it was completely based on the creative concepts and visualizing if we had to see it burning under the water what would it do?
