YoYottaAward-winning commercial visual-effects facility, Smoke & Mirrors NY recently implemented YoYotta's YoYo workflow management system to accommodate the wide variety of camera formats in use today. In mid-2010, the facility opened a new colour grading suite built around a da Vinci Resolve system, and found that they needed an efficient system for creating DPX files for grading.

Harry Potter and the deathly hallows 1Baseblack were one of MARI's earliest adopters. Having just completed work on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the team speaks about the reasons behind their purchase and the difference it's making to their workflow.

Having worked on several of the previous films in the Harry Potter franchise, boutique VFX house, Baseblack, were approached to tackle stand alone shots on The Deathly Hallows while larger vendors concentrated on major set pieces. Attracted by the scope and variety of the shots, the team got stuck in and went on to contribute more shots than any other vendor to Deathly Hallows Part 1.

Cinesite opens 2011 Inspire Program to help grow the next generation of VFX talent

Cinesite LogoCinesite, one of the world’s leading film visual effects houses, is now receiving applications for its 2011 internship program, Inspire, which helps develop young visual effects talent.

Following the success of the 2010 program which has seen both of last year’s winners, Chris Mulcaster and Alex Betancourt, go on to work on the upcoming blockbusters Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and John Carter of Mars at the company, Cinesite has brought the internship program back for another year.

Source Code tells the story of a U.S. soldier who wakes up in the body of another man and discovers he's part of a mission to find the bomber of a Chicago commuter train - forced to relive the final 8 minutes of the incident over and over again until he finds the perpetrator. This December, Modus FX delivered over 150 shots for the film, including complex digital crowd shots, CG trains, environments and dramatic pyrotechnics.

Relativity MediaRelativity Media announced that it will theatrically market and distribute its 3-D epic Immortals, in association with Universal Pictures International, in North America. On November 11, 2011, legends of the Greek Gods will come to life like never before when this film hits theaters.

Directed by Tarsem Singh (The Cell) and written by Charles Parlapanides and Vlas Parlapanides, Immortals stars Henry Cavill (“The Tudors”), Stephen Dorff (Public Enemies), Isabel Lucas (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen), Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire), Luke Evans (Robin Hood), Kellan Lutz (Twilight series), with John Hurt (Hellboy), and Mickey Rourke (Iron Man 2).
