ShotgunShotgun Software announced today that the Visual Effects Society used the Shotgun web-based production tracking and collaboration system to streamline its review and selection process for the 9th Annual VES Awards.

Taking a cue from the production industry, where many companies use Shotgun to manage their projects, the Visual Effects Society Awards Committee tapped Shotgun to manage its own review of the industry's best work. The system gave all Award Committee members instant online access to all submission materials, notes and real-time progress.

Method VFXVisual effects company Method recently completed work on Bridgestone's :30 "Carma" via agency The Richards Group. The commercial, which debuted during Super Bowl XLV, features a beaver that repays a surprised motorist's kindness. The spot makes a sly reference to Bridgestone's "Scream," which debuted during Super Bowl XLII in 2008.

As part of its ongoing educational commitment and support for future artists, filmmakers, animators and designers, Autodesk, Inc. again sponsored the Visual Effects Society’s (VES) award for “Outstanding Visual Effects in a Student Project”.

VES LogoThe Visual Effects Society (VES), announced the 2011 Board of Director officers who were elected at the January 10, 2010 board meeting. The list of officials includes Jeffrey A. Okun, Visual Effects Supervisor, who was re-elected for a third one-year term as Board Chair.

“I am honored to have been re-elected Chair of the VES,” states Okun. “This is a pivotal year for the VES and I am pleased to lead our community of artists as their talents and influence are recognized within our industry across the board – in film, broadcast, special venue, commercials, games and animation!”
