Springboard Films to release animated feature Ashoka - The Hero

As we all set to get started with a brimming list of Bollywood movies in the year 2011, here is one thing which will give some bliss to the Indian animation lovers.

Mumbai based animation house Illusion Interactive is all set to release its first animated feature Ashoka - The Hero on 7th of January 2011. To be distributed theatrically by PVR Pictures' Springboard Films, the film is made in 2D with few portions in CG.

Vanguard Films Announces New Stop-Motion Animated Film

OZ WarsMike Johnson, co-director of Corpse Bride, will be directing Vanguard Films' CG/stop-motion hybrid animation film, Oz Wars.

"Oz Wars is an animated action-adventure story, but unlike most animated films, it's not just for kids. The Land of Oz will be re-imagined using stop-motion to create a world that's dark, slick, sexy, and dangerous. It's long been a goal of mine to create a hard-hitting, grown-up action film using stop-motion animation. Oz Wars' is my opportunity to do that," said Johnson.

Previs/Layout Master Class workshop for live-action and animated feature film in Singapore

omenstudiosOmens Studios(Singapore), Ngee Ann Polytechnic and Media Development Authority of Singapore is organizing a Previs/Layout Master Class workshop for live-action and animated feature film on 6th and 7th January 2011.

Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones fame Brian J. Pohl, Rob Dressel a veteran animator, Layout/Sequence Supervisor, Walt Disney Animation Studios and Wong Hock Hian the Art Director of Omens Studios have roped in to share their experience and techniques they have used to plan, conceptualise and execute the previz and layout for movie scenes and sequences.
